Wouldn't it be great if governments and/or industries would work together to end technofeudalism? We have the techincal means.
Imagine this scenario:
- Each factory, official distributor or digital content creator would host a website and a standardised API to discover their products, place orders and pay for them.
- Factory/distributor/creator's websites could be discovered from TLS cert renew lists (just like malware bots find websites now).
- Online shops (or even end-user apps) would scan periodically the APIs they discover and choose to follow to find/update product lists.
- End user places order to online shop (or directly to factory/distributor). Shop sends the payment and order to factory/distributor. Factory/distributor sends products to end user.
So is the internet a public good or not? Should companies be allowed to own and control it or shouldn't they, the analogy would be like if everyone needed a specific device to function in the modern world and only could go to one or two places to realistically get it.
Technofeudalism is a misnomer, as feudalism requires people to exploit their labor, which are linked to some territory or domain. When labor loses its value, it is no longer "feudalism", as there is no value to extract anymore.
The general concept is this: Control through complexity. By making things so complex people don’t understand they’re being controlled or getting fucked up the ass.
This is modern society 101, and techno feudalism is just one aspect of it.
Social and economic systems becoming too complex for individual humans to understand is my grand unifying theory of why everything feels so fucked up at the moment. This applies even when there isn't some evil puppetmaster pulling the strings.

No more Amazon.

The article not mentioning the likes of Curtis Yarvin or Peter Thiel misses the point...
