Very interesting. LLMs at the state today certainly do feel like a Cambrian explosion on software with more code is being written/generated than ever. Throughout my career it felt like solving one problem opened the door for many more. To infinity and beyond! With all the trepidation coming from the maths community (Terrence Tao in particular), I am optimistic that many previously overlooked opportunities in software will now be filled.
I don't think this optimistic take is what vast majority of people experience in their daily lives. The AI gets used as glorified Google, and the AI-generated videos get pushed to the elderly as they can't tell the difference.
Or am I out of the loop and people outside the tech world do use it in a way I'm not aware of?
Most people at large corporates seem to use copilot daily (bundled with O365) to summarize Teams calls and assign actions, rewrite large documents and inflate them back out into PowerPoint decks.

Heaps of normies use either Chat, Grok or now Muse to replace their Google Search of everything.
>Find me restaurants in Queenstown
>Is it more expensive to renovate or rebuild in XYZ location
>Is so & so being narcissistic with this message copy paste
People basically outsource their thinking and think it’s the best thing since sliced bread.
To be fair, there was hardly any thinking in the previous method where a Google Search landed on SEO, Reddit or ads.
The rise of AI coincides with the destruction of the old Internet.
