A little background: I've been periodically obsessed with timekeeping systems since reading about the French Republican calendar maybe 15 years ago. Every few years I make a new clock and/or calendar. This time around, things fell into place in a way they haven't before, and half way in the process I realized I had almost reinvented the old sky-reading instrument of the astrolabe! It's been a real journey. I hope someone else will find it interesting too.
