I wonder how this works under the hood and if it is significantly compromises security - no technical details in the article

What does it mean to unlock when the device unlocks? I think every single one of my apps might have built this feature too.
Maybe I misread it but it’s like Apple Pay on a MacBook.
You query 1Password to open in the Mac/PC and a prompt shows up on your phone and you auto with PIN/FaceID which then unlocks 1P on Mac/PC
Microsoft Authenticator has a similar workflow for MS accounts but it’s based upon matching a number on the screen AND authenticating with FaceID.
