It seems profoundly irresponsible as a CEO to release this kind of speculation to employees, knowing it'll leak, and knowing it'll seriously damage your company. It seems like the kind of speculation you'd do with trusted lieutenants and insiders, not broadly.

A. It seems like a leader would do these things if they believed in the morals/ethics of them; is the argument that leaders should avoid moral or ethical considerations and instead be solely guided by profit maximization?
B. Anthropic said they'll challenge the government action in court, and the analysis I've found is that the government's actions "won't survive first contact with the legal system" [1], so there’s also the question of whether leaders should take different actions in order to account for government actions that are almost certainly illegal?
