Ai overviews can be easily disabled. I've had them disabled for more than 6 months.
From what I'm aware there's no native way to disable this; are you just talking about using an extension to hide them?

I did actually end up switching to DuckDuckGo because of all this; I didn't think definitions would be my final straw but here we are. Thanks for sending the website, it looks neat!
Google search isn't what it used to be; Gemini hallucinates sometimes with misinformation.
