OpenRockets Foundation proudly reached its first 30 members on GitHub, representing contributors from multiple countries around the world. We also became a fiscally sponsored 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered in the United States, strengthening our ability to operate globally and transparently.
We hosted two in-person table meetups that brought together both working professionals and students involved in OpenRockets, fostering collaboration, mentorship, and community growth. Additionally, we established two open-source licensing initiatives designed to help teenagers increase the visibility of their projects online and gain recognized credentials for their contributions.
One of our major launches was CityofGits, an open-source 3D world project developed collaboratively by members of the OpenRockets Foundation. We also supported five NASA Space Apps Challenge Sri Lanka teams by providing funding assistance, pitching guidance, and volunteer support.
Our students proudly represented OpenRockets at major global tech events, including:
Google I/O Extended 2025 (2 delegates)
Google DevFest 2024 and 2025 (2 delegates)
WSO2 Con 2025 (4 delegates)
We launched OpenRockets Magazine, a student-run publication dedicated to giving school clubs, mid-to-small-scale nonprofits, and associations a platform to increase their visibility and build a digital footprint — no matter how small their projects may be. The magazine includes an integrated system offering free advertisements and spotlight features exclusively for nonprofits.
We welcome students from around the world to establish their own OpenRockets branch under the OpenRockets Foundation — completely free, with access to grants and institutional support.
Branches can receive:
A custom subdomain (e.g., alphacomputersoc.openrockets.com, alphatheta.openrockets.com)
Official domain-based email addresses (e.g., mike.e@openrockets.com)
Free registration for your club within our global network
